This week, baby is the size of a peach, and she’s looking sweeter than ever. Measured crown to rump, she’s about 3 inches long and becoming more interested in the world around her.

In fact, babies have been known to suck their thumbs as early as 13 weeks (aka, now). Even more interesting, some studies suggest that which thumb she chooses to suck may indicate her eventual “handedness,” since the vast majority of babies prefer to suck their right thumb, just as the vast majority of grown-ups in the world are right-handed. (And, yes, babies who suck their left thumb in utero are more likely to wind up as left-handers.)

Here’s something even crazier to think about. If you’re having a girl, she already has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Who knows, there may be one of your grandchildren among them!

Oh snap—this is the last week of your first trimester, mama! You’re entering into a whole new world.

• Morning sickness. It has eased up considerably, or disappeared completely, for most mamas. I hope that includes you!
• Extreme fatigue. That’s getting better for many pregnant mamas as well since a lot of the "heavy lifting" of baby development is finished.
• Sex aversion. Hey, you may even feel like having sex again. Yes, seriously. While some women may feel self-conscious about their changing bodies, many couples find sex during pregnancy to be very satisfying.
