  1. My husband liked this name because it means “Annointed one”

  2. Not too many boys named Seth were around at the time

  3. Seth can mean “appointed.”

  4. He is named after his great great grandfather Benjamin Seth Harley

  5. My parents named me Seth after the person that married them back in 1970. I was born in 1976. It’s a solid, classic, very old name, and has many variants in other cultures. I’ve only personally met four other people named Seth in my lifetime (none of which I got along with). One thing I’ve noticed is that when some people see it in print, they mispronounce it as “seeth”, “sid”, “saith”, etc. Also, non-native English speakers (except Greeks) have a difficult time with the “t-h” sound, so they drop the “h” and just say “set”. However, the name Set was a deity in Egyptian mythology, and is also associated with the planet Mars.

  6. i dated a guy named Seth. We never broke up i think we are still dating to this day. If you have seen How To Deal then he looks like Macon, if you have not look it up. I have not had good experiences with Seths. I think that all Seths turn out to be bullies, but i love that the name is a biblical name. I LOVE GOD. I just thought that you should hear my story. Thanks for listening

    Love Karen

  7. My Husband choose his name, he has 5 daughters, and always wanted a boy and had that name chosen for a long time. This his first son. I personally love the name it’s from the Bible.

  8. My husband and I have liked the name Seth since we started dating 19 years ago. We always said if we had a boy that would be his name. It just stuck.

  9. Seth means “anointed” and actually was given to one of our friends in a dream for our baby. It’s strong, short, and just unusual enough it’s not common like so many Bible names.

  10. I thought Seth was classic and beautiful, but also strong and wise.

  11. Western novel

  12. I chose Seth because in the bible Seth was Adam third son. Seth is my third son

  13. I wanted a biblical name of a man with a peaceful life.

  14. My first 2 boys are called Ely and Caleb so I wanted another old testament name to keep in context. Seth still sounds fairly modern and is a simple name for a child to spell and say.

  15. I loved the name Seth! Short & simple but also a very important bible character. After the tragedy with Cain and Abel, God chose Seth to make a new beginning (the first of a few). Also, God spoke clearly to my husband that our sons name would be Seth.

  16. A very special family member whose life was cut short in his 20s was near and dear to my heart, so our firstborn is his namesake. We hope that his kindness lives on in our son!
