Sarah Name Meaning

A Biblical name and beacon of popularity, parents have been loving Sarah for generations. A Hebrew name meaning “princess”, it’s no surprise that parents bestow it upon their little princesses left and right.

Sarah’s long standing popularity shouldn’t be off-putting, as she’s gained the invaluable girl-next-door status. She’s a sweet and familiar face in the name pool, continuing to wow parents with her simple beauty. She doesn’t need extra syllables or va-va-voom to warm hearts. She has every bit of elegance needed in her five letters.

Religious folks love her Biblical ties, as Sarah was the wife of Abraham and mother of Isaac in the holy book. As the mother of nations and a devout believer after bearing a son, Sarah is a great association for many.

Sarah is a name that stands the test of time, every bit as much of a classic as Katherine and Elizabeth. She’s just as delightful on a child as an adult, a name that can grow with your little one as she blossoms into a woman.

For those looking for an updated version of the name, check out her diminutive of Sadie. Also meaning “princess”, Sadie is a Sarah spinoff that’s picking up steam. There is also Sarai, a variant of the name featured in the Bible as well.
