They come in different sizes and color varieties that makes any yard look vibrant. You have to take delicate care for them to blossom, just like I will do for my daughter ?. Reply Anastasia Mar 25 at 10:50 am I love earthy names in general. One of my good friends was taking about this flower that I think I would like. I didn’t think much of it besides the fact that it sounds like Delilah, which was the name I really loved. After some thinking with my husband, I presented the name Dahlia and he said he liked the sound of that one better than Delilah. Reply willow Feb 22 at 8:30 pm Dahlia was the name of my cabin leader at Walden West summer camp. She was so nice! We were always joking about how I would name my kid Dahlia, so I named my pet Dahlia and it is a very nice name. Dahlia, if you are reading this (which is unlikely) this is wilLOW and I miss you 🙂 Reply Dahlia Mar 13 at 7:34 pm So cute! Reply Kortney Jun 6 at 8:27 am I chose this name because it feels like a strong flower name. I find femininity to be very important and empowering and I believe the name Dahlia fits that perfectly. Dahlia flowers are big and bright and represent devotion, love, beauty, and dignity. All adjectives that I’d like to describe my daughter. Reply dahlia May 4 at 7:23 am ok there is a stephanie on here and my name is dahlia and my brithday is in october and stephanie is the name of my grandma how crazy is that and if you are my grandma hey nana Reply Stephanie Oct 24 at 11:57 am I love flower names but it felt strange to put a spring flower name on my October baby. Dahlias are one of the latest blooming flowers and should always be blooming on her birthday! Also I have a dahlia garden and my mom grows beautiful dahlias as well. Reply dahlia May 4 at 7:25 am omg are you my grandma and if you are im at school Reply Dahlia A Feb 21 at 12:58 pm I’m glad my parent chose to name me Dahlia. I love my name and I think it is super unique especially in the U.S. but the only issue is that people mispronounce it a lot and I have to correct them everytime; even tho it is spelled in many ways it’s still easy to pronounce. Reply Heather Sep 20 at 7:09 am We chose the name after my grandmother who I took care of the last 3 years of her life and because it is unique. Reply Giana Feb 18 at 7:11 am We mostly named her Dahlia based off a heavy metal band. But also, throughout my pregnancy, dahlias were everywhere; the day we went to find out the gender our dahlia plant in the yard bloomed. We love that it is not a common flower and that we can call her Dolly. But already, people are calling he Dalihia, Adahlia and Delilah. Reply DeLaney Sep 15 at 11:09 am Dahlia is my first child, I spent forever trying to come up with a unique name. Low and behold a trip to Lowe’s where I saw the flower and I fell in love. She is my flower baby and nature girl. Reply Rae-Ann Apr 22 at 12:28 pm I wish we had a cool story about how we ended up with this name. It wasn’t on our list and it took us three days after she was born to officially declare it. It’s the only name that suited the way she looked. We called her a bunch of names but nothing fit like this one. For those who don’t know, a Dahlia is a type of flower. They’re beautiful and the name itself is definitely unique, which is great. However, the biggest frustration in hindsight is pronunciation. There are three ways to pronounce it. D-Al-ee-yah (American), Day-lee-yah (British), Daw-lee-yah (Hindu). We say it the American way but the other two are the most common ways other people pronounce it. I fear she will get frustrated spending the rest of her life correcting people or just accepting incorrect names. But, even with all that said, I still can’t picture her with any other name. Reply Dahlia Hale Sep 5 at 10:03 pm It can be pretty frustrating when people can’t get my name right but i don’t know a lot of people with the name so it makes me feel different. Reply willow Feb 22 at 8:34 pm I feel you! My real name is SO hard to pronounce, with my last name even harder! It happens sometimes, so I come up with an easier name to pronounce, like willow. I also do not know almost anyone who has the same name as me, but this website says that my real name is really common… Reply Angie Apr 11 at 1:20 pm Dahlia was my favorite flower throughout college. I had a beautiful purple and white one growing on my balcony and I just knew that I would name my little girl that one day.
