43 Week Old Baby Milestones 👶
At this point, if your little one is not quite taking her first steps, she’s getting close! Have you noticed that she has become more confident in her abilities to move her body around? Some babies will leap right into taking those first steps, while others may be a little more timid, waiting for the exact right time to perfect the use of her feet.
Motivate her with intriguing toys and objects that might help encourage her to keep on moving. Remember that all babies mature and develop in their own way, on their own time. If you find that your little one just doesn’t seem quite ready to take those first steps, that’s okay! She will figure it out when she’s ready. Read more about when babies usually begin walking, and how to encourage this natural development.
For those mamas who have babies moving all over the place (possibly already moving into those first steps!) remember that crawling is still within their comfort zone at this point. You may find that she takes a few steps and moves right back to the floor to crawl. That’s okay! Crawling is still her main mode of transportation as she figures out how to perfect using her feet.
No matter where your little one is in their gross motor abilities, remember to allow them time to figure out their own body. Resist the urge to hold them all the time, or even grab their hand as they stand (or walk!). Show them that you believe in their abilities to achieve milestones on their own!

You at 43 Weeks Postpartum 👩
With a little one on the move, you may find it becoming increasingly more difficult to keep them contained (and entertained!) in the house. At this age, babies are becoming more and more aware of the big world outside. So how do you keep them (and yourself!) entertained? Connecting with other mamas and making time for play dates can be so beneficial on many levels. It helps you:
- Move outside your comfort zone: This is especially important for those mamas who tend to keep to themselves. It can be hard to branch out and open up to other mothers. But the benefits of connecting and bonding over this shared experience are so worth it.
- Build your village: Getting yourself out and around other mamas can really be therapeutic. When you build trust with other moms, you can feel confident relying on them to help watch your little one if need be. And your children can build some amazing relationships together, too!
- Get moving: Expanding your area of exploration not only helps your little one move more, but it also gets you up and off your feet, chasing your baby around the beautiful outdoors.
This is such a fun age to get out and socialize with other mamas. Plus, it allows your little one to meet new faces, too—something that’s so important as they develop social skills. It’s never too early to get baby feeling comfortable and confident in making new friends—you too!
