My husband and I were going through a rough patch during what was a very difficult pregnancy and I took a day at a friends house to rest and take a break. I decided to do a bit of movement and turned on her stereo and Lauryn Hill’s To Zion was playing and I knew that was our baby’s name and everything was going to be ok ?

The name Zion is often used to describe a place appointed by the Lord where his followers can live and serve God. Scripture refers to Zion as the “City of Holiness” and a “city of refuge” where the Lord protects his people from the evils in the world.

We looked up biblical names & wrote some down.
But when we went for our 13week scan, I asked God who is this boy in my womb?! I instantly the name Zion popped up.
Then my husband & I kept praying as we also liked Judah, and the meaning of both names meant a lot to us.
Zion was born and we still hadn’t named him as yet. A friend of mine gave me a prophetic word about our baby & she actually wrote down his name to be Zion (she had noooo idea that was one of the names we were tossing up between).

I loved how it was in the Bible referring to a mountain, he came out strong and it was the perfect name for him

I chose the name Zion when I was young after listening to Lauren Hill’s “To Zion” I thought about how great it would be to have a child with their own song. As I got older I looked into the Hebrew meaning of the name and it means “monument” and that’s what I want for my son’s life. I want him to be strong and monumental.
